The second game of group C saw Algeria take on Kenya at the 30 June Stadium. The Harambee stars were making their first AFCON appearance in 15 years.

First-half goals from Riyad Mahrez and Baghdad Bounedjah were enough to see off any resistance from the Kenyan side as Algeria used their experience and terrain familiarity to outwit the East African nation.
Algeria began the game the brighter side controlling proceedings and have large spells of possession.

Their breakthrough, however, came in the 34 minute from the penalty spot when Youcef Atal was brought down in the box following a mazy overlapping run into the box. Baghdad Bounedjah stepped up and made no mistake sending the keeper in the wrong direction.

Mahrez added a second goal 9 mins later after his shot was deflected heavily and into the back of the net.
Kenya tried to get back into the game but to no avail has Algeria held on to the first half goals to secure their first 3 points of their AFCON 2019 campaign and go joint top with Senegal who they meet in what many are calling a mini final.
