Ghana’s Black Starlets failed to scale through to the finals of the WAFU Zone B qualifiers tournament currently ongoing at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.
The host nation lost to neighbors, Burkina Faso in a thrilling encounter in front of teeming large masses of supporters that thronged the match venue.
Coach Kingson gunning for a place in the finals named a formidable starting berth that had, Michael Armah in post, surrounded by Bilal Adjevi, Izdeen Mohammed, Harve Gbafa, Hamza Iddrisu in defense, Benjaimen Tsivanyo, Abdullai Nortey, Theophilus Ayamga, Mark Kagawa Mensah, Joseph Narh in midfield with Godfred Sarpong leading the attack for the side.

Both teams pushed each other in the early exchanges of the game but it was the Stallions who drew first blood through, Asharaf Tapsoba, who pounced on a defensive mix-up in the heart of Ghana’s defense for the game’s opener.
The early goal by the Burkinabe awoke the young Ghanaian setup, who tried on several counts for the equalizer but goalkeeper, Prince Ouedraogo was equal to the task for his side.

Joseph Narh pulled the Starlets on level pegging in the 26th minute with a sweet curler after receiving a weighted pass from teammate, Benjaimen Tsivanyo to send the home fans into rupture cheers and jesters.
Asharaf Tapsoba scored his and his side’s second of the game three minutes after the second half resumed to seal the win for the Stallions.
The Starlets will await the loser of the duel between Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria in the other semi-final pairing at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
