Ghana’s Black Meteors have arrived in Morocco for U-23 AFCON tournament
Last night, the Black Meteors arrived in Morocco to participate in the 2023 U23 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The delegation, consisting of players, technical staff, and officials, reached Rabat after completing their pre-tournament training in Cairo.
During their time in Egypt, the Black Meteors engaged in two friendly matches and underwent intensive training sessions in Alexandria and Cairo.
They drew 1-1 against Egypt and emerged victorious with a 4-1 scoreline against Zamalek in their second friendly encounter.
The Black Meteors’ tournament journey will commence on Sunday, June 25, 2023, with their first group stage match against Congo.
The match is scheduled to take place at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, just a day after the tournament begins.
After facing Congo, the Black Meteors will go up against the host nation, Morocco, in their second group stage match on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. They will then conclude the group stage by competing against Guinea.
The primary objective of the Black Meteors is to secure a spot in the Olympic Games in Paris by finishing among the top three teams in the tournament.
