TV right holders StarTimes pile pressure on Ghana FA to continue season

TV right holders StarTimes are pulling punches to ensure the continuation of the 2019/2020 season amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to GHANAsoccernet.com

The Chinese-based firm is putting enormous pressure on the FA  to ensure the season continues unabated following the Covid-19 shutdown.

The shutdown of football due to the coronavirus pandemic has led to financial problems for the Asian broadcasters and are pushing for a restart of the season, according to reports.

StarTimes are steeling themselves for a significant drop in ad sales revenue for the rest of the season as brands pull campaign and slash marketing budgets amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Already, Ghanaian Premier League clubs have received a paltry  $30,000 as partial payment from StarTimes since acquiring the rights for the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

StarTimes, a major partner of the Ghana Football Association, have been  directly impacted by the coronavirus.

Now fresh reports are emerging the pay-per-view channel is putting intense pressure on the Ghana FA to continue the season as they aim to recover lost revenue.
