Ghanaian and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been nominated for the prestigious BBC African Player of the year award.
His nomination was announced in a tweet by BBC News Africa’s official twitter handle.
It is the first time the Ghanaian has been nominated for the award which his fellow teammates Asamoah Gyan And Andrew Ayew have been hitherto nominated for.
Partey has shone this season for Atletico despite playing bit parts most of the time. He impressed last year and won the Europa League trophy with the club.

The Ghanaian was nominated alongside Mehdi Benatia of Morocco and Juventus, Mohammed Salah Of Egypt and Liverpool, Saido Mane of Senegal and Liverpool and Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli and Senegal.
Thomas Partey is currently with the national team who are set to play a crucial AFCON 2019 qualifier match with Ethiopia on Sunday.
