Sulley Muntari condemns the Ghana Premier League

Former Ghanaian international Sulley Muntari didn’t mince words as he dammed the poor state of the Ghana Premier League.

Muntari, who hanged his boots after playing for Ghana Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak some three seasons ago was not pleased with the poor state of the league.

Speaking in a recent interview to Tv3, he cast a serious doubt on the league’s future.

He said, “I enjoyed it. Hearts fans and the president were amazing. The league is a big hole where they are dumping money. There is no future for the local league. I am hoping I can get some funds and really help them. It’s a mess. When I was there, it was a mess. Maybe now it is worse. If we don’t help these guys, we won’t get the top players.”

He added, “The changing rooms smell. That respect is not there. I didn’t even want my laundry done. I would take it home. When you get into changing rooms, they smell bad. It is not just one team. Everybody.”

Muntari’s recent words is one of many calls for a major face-lift in facilities, equipments, pitches, the use of advanced technologies, better renumeration for players, managers, auxiliary staff, media and other vested parties.

The 40-year old played a chunk of his football in Italy for side’s such as  Udinese, Inter, AC Milan and in England for Portsmouth,Sunderland.
