Slovak coach Goran Barjaktarevic arrives in Ghana for Wa All Stars job
Slovakian-born coach Goran Barjaktarevic has arrived in the country to take over Wa All Stars in the upcoming Ghana Premier League.
The Accra-based side are seeking to establish their title credentials by boosting their backroom staff with a highly experienced coach before the start of the season.
Wa All Stars have been without a head coach since John Paintsil was forcefully driven out of the club early this month.
With just seven days to the commencement of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League, the one-time Ghana Premier League champions have appointed Goran Barjaktarevic as head coach.
The 50-year-old gaffer touched down at the Kotoko International Airport late Sunday and held a brief meeting with the hierarchy of the club at his hotel base.
He is expected to be in the dugout when Wa All Stars open their league campaign against Liberty Professionals at the Karl Reindorf Park on Saturday, December 28, 2019.
Brief facts about Goran Barjaktarevic
Barjaktarevic is a former Yugoslav soccer player and DFB soccer teacher with German citizenship.
He started his career as a football coach in Germany in 1998 as a DFB-B license trainer in the youth department of VfL Oldenburg.
In 2000 he received the DFB-A license. and took over the A-youth of VfB Oldenburg in the Regionalliga Nord , at that time the highest division of the A-juniors. He held this position until 2005. In the same year it received its DFB soccer teacher license from the German Sport University Cologne ( Hennes-Weisweiler-Akademie).
His last coaching job was in 2018, when he took over Thai top-tier side Chonburi FC.
