Senegal becomes first African Nation to reach last 16 of this year’s World Cup.


Senegal are back in the World Cup Knockout stages for the first in 20 years.

Coach Aliou Cisse has led Senegal to their second ever round of 16 qualification in their country’s World Cup history.

Aliou Cisse was captain the last time Senegal qualified to the round of 16 back in the 2002 World Cup.

The African champions defeated Ecuador 2-1 to seal their place in this years World Cup knockout stages and became the  first African team to qualify.

Goals from Sarr and captain koulibaly ensured all three points for Aliou Cisse’s men.
