Chelsea paid Man City an initial fee worth around £45million for Sterling. A further £10m will be due to the Premier League champions if a number of performance-related add-ons are met throughout the 27-year-old’s time at Stamford Bridge.
Raised in Brent, north-west London, Sterling began his career at Chelsea’s London rivals Queens Park Rangers but moved to Liverpool at the age of 15 in February 2010. A little over two years later, he made his first-team debut for the Reds, aged 17 years and 107 days. Sterling became the third-youngest player to play for the club in the process.
