Kwame Opare Addo, the Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak, has dismissed allegations linking the team’s recent poor form to match-fixing.
The Phobians have experienced a string of disappointing defeats, including a humiliating home loss to Medeama SC a few weeks ago.
In that particular game, the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League champions suffered a 5-1 defeat to the Yellow and Mauves at the Accra Sports Stadium, raising concerns about the commitment of the Hearts of Oak players.
This defeat prompted some former players to call for investigations into the authenticity of the results.

However, Opare Addo has refuted all such claims and stated that the club is simply going through a difficult period, which the authorities are actively working to address.
“The rumors suggesting that Hearts of Oak has been involved in match-fixing are mere speculations,” Opare Addo stated during an interview on Asempa FM.
“After our loss to Samartex, the board held meetings with the technical team to identify the issues that have contributed to our poor form. The players were also engaged in discussions,” he explained to Asempa FM.
“We have made efforts to address the situation and get back on track to ensure positive results, but unfortunately, it hasn’t yielded the desired outcome.
“Nevertheless, we are still doing everything possible to motivate the players,” he added.
Currently, Hearts of Oak sits in 11th place with 45 points, holding a slim three-point advantage over the relegation zone. On the final day of the Ghana Premier League, they will face Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.
