But in a swift turn of events, Kudus was swayed by the interest from the Hammers, who signed him on a five-year contract.
Speaking to the club’s house media team, Iron Cast, he affirmed the influence former Westham and Ghanaian Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew had on his decision to choose the East London club ahead of others.
“Ayew has been speaking highly of West Ham, but John Paintsil is way older so I didn’t get a chance to speak with him!” Kudus said in his first interview after being unveiled.
“Andre is still in the national team and speaks a lot about experiences in most clubs and West Ham is one of the clubs that he speaks highly of.”
Kudus signed a five-year deal with a fee of around €44.5 million fee.
