The Black Meteors began their quest in the ongoing AFCON U23 tournament with a hard-fought 3-2 win over their Congolese counterparts at the Prince Abdellah Stadium in Morocco.

The Black Meteors started the opening exchanges on the front foot, Sylvester Simba put through a cross from the flanks but captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh failed to get in on that.
Ghana’s livewire in the first half was Ernest Nuamah who was a thorn in the flesh of the opposition but his whipped cross in the 35th minute was dealt with cheeky ease.
Barnieh and Simba were subbed off by Emmanuel Yeboah and Hafiz Ibrahim upon resumption in the second half of the game.
Five minutes later, Fatawu Issahaku bossed a ball from midfield threading one through to Emmanuel Yeboah who selflessly released the ball to the pacy Ernest Nuamah to tap home from close range, 1-0.
The goal gave Ghana the confidence to threaten their opponents, Emmanuel Yeboah bagged a brace in the 75th and 83rd minute to coast to 3-0 in the game.
In what looked like a safe win for Ghana, Reich Kokolo and Van Ngatse got in on the action with two late goals to pin the match at 3-2.
Ghana will host Morocco for the next game on June, 27,2023.
