Mawuli Wayo’s late goal was enough for GoldStars to scale over Hearts of Oak in cagy late cagy duel at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The host had a plethora of chances to open the scoring in the first half but for sheer luck, inexperience, and impressive goalkeeping abilities of the diminutive goalkeeper, Ernest Kusi, he kept the host at bay.

The second half started similarly to the first, with the Phobians threatening the goal area of their visitors, it was least surprising to see them pile pressure upon pressure but their 21 goal attempts all failed to find the back of the net.
In the 79th minute, Sherrif Shuab easily dealt with an area ball and tried to restart the attack but the ball ricocheted, Alex Aso and fell to the feet of Mawuli Wayo, who then shot beyond his reach for the first and only goal of the game.

They amassed an impressive 21 goal attempts but were unable to convert any, while Goldstars capitalized on their chance to secure the win and maintain their unbeaten streak of five games.

The results see, Hearts of Oak level on points with result, Goldstars, 32 points, with a better goal difference.
The Phobians travel away to Medeama SC while GoldStars will welcome Karela United to Duns Park.
