
Kotoko enjoyed the successes of a return to the league as they beat Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Ghana Premier League was thrown into a state of shock as the demise of Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley) at Nsoatre in a game against Nsoatreman got the league suspended.

This saw the league suspended for over four weeks to allow the Ghana Police to investigate into the death of the supporter and to aid the Kumasi club and the family of him (Pooley) to bury their beloved which happened on March,6,2025 at the Heroes Park, Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Before the game, the home side held a banner with the inscription “forever in our heart” before kickoff in honor of the late supporter.
Kotoko got their noses in front through defender Patrick Asiedu in the 27th minute.
The Porcupine Warriors doubled their lead through Kwame Opoku who netted a penalty on the 88th minute.
Yaw Acheampong and his boys will regroup as they play Berekum Chelsea Cities next in the league phase.
