Majeed Ashimeru unfazed by World Cup snub

Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru is unfazed by his exclusion from Ghana’s 26-man squad to the World Cup in Qatar.

The exciting midfielder was initially named as part of the 55-man squad list but was later dropped as other players were viewed as being in a better position than him.

The 24-year-old, a devoted Muslim remains optimistic that at the appointed time he will make his bow with Black Stars in a major tournament.

“I do believe in God and I just believe it’s not the time. Sometimes I believe I should be there but it doesn’t come. Everyone has to be there,”

“For me, I don’t care when I am not in the squad, I feel like when its my time I will be there because we have so many playing and doing amazing in Europe. Sometimes I feel like I deserve it but when it doesn’t come, I don’t have any problem,” he told Joy Sports.

The Belgian-based midfielder has been impressive in 11 outings scoring two goals in the current campaign.

The Ghanaian contingent have departed for Dubai to begin camping ahead of the World Cup but will play Switzerland in the last of its friendlies before playing groups Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
