Former Ghanaian footballer John Paintsil believes that Mohammed Kudus possesses qualities similar to Argentinean football star Lionel Messi.
He compared while speaking to Nigerian radio station Brilla FM about Mohammed Kudus.
“When Chris Hughton said he is going to use Mohammed Kudus as a number 10, he means he is going to give Kudus a free role, just like Lionel Messi; you don’t get the ball much but when you have it, he knows what he is going to do,” he said
“I think Hughton knows what he is saying, Kudus being the number ten and the frontman leading the team going forward. That’s what Messi does, you’ll find Messi on the right side, he will get the ball and bring it in and his players will be making the runs for him”
“So when the players make the run, he has the chance to look for space and also look at the position of the goalkeeper and can possibly roll the ball to the far corner and get the goal”
“I believe you can compare Mohammed Kudus’ movement to that of Lionel Messi, and its understandable why the coach said he will use him as a number 10” he added.
Mohammed Kudus will be joining the Ghana Black Stars camp after helping West Ham beat Arsenal in the English Premier League on Thursday night.
