Kudjoe Fianoo, John Ansah, Linda Ansong win big at GHALCA
Kudjoe Fianoo has been re-elected Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), together with others to serve for the next four years tasked with the mandate of making the association relevant to the football quarters.
Fianoo scooped 71 votes to beat his opposition, Isaac Koomson, who could only manage 47 votes in the keenly-contested election that was held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In his victory speech, the long-serving former CEO of Ashgold promised to restore the integrity of GHALCA as the welfare body back to it’s glory days and make it relevant as it used to be.
“I can’t let my clubs down for the overwhelming endorsement of my candidature. I am ready to commence work from today to place GHALCA where it belongs,”
“It is very important to restore the integrity of the association and that is what I am going to do. I am looking forward to meet my new executive members so we can commence work immediately,” he ended
In the other results, John Ansah amassed 66 votes to fend off competition from the former veep Alex Ackumey, who had 47 to massage his lose.
Liberty Professionals CEO Linda Ansong overwhelmingly swept 90 votes to beat Justice Boison for the position of treasurer whiles WAFA’s George Ofosuhene and former Kotoko Accra rep Edmund Ackah snatched the two Premier League slots.
Eugene Nobel Noel won by the skin of teeth in hotly contested polls for the Division One slot seeing him walk away with 58 votes whiles Felix Bewu had 54 votes, while Emmanuel Abrokwah’s 54 votes were too much for Eugene Jacquaye and Vincent Boateng’s, who got 14 and 43 respectively.
The women’s football election has been rescheduled to another date following Anita Wiredu and Edna Quagraine unable to win the first round of voting after being tied with eight votes.
