Jordan Ayew captains Crystal Palace for first time
Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew had the privilege of leading Crystal Palace onto the field for the first time as captain in their EFL Cup fifth-round match against Manchester United on Tuesday.
This moment marked a significant milestone in Ayew’s tenure at the club, underscoring his growing influence since he joined them five years ago.
Ayew’s unwavering commitment and hard work have garnered the respect and trust of both his fellow players and manager Roy Hodgson, resulting in his selection as captain for the match at Old Trafford.
Although the game did not swing in Crystal Palace’s favor, ending with a 4-0 victory for Manchester United, Ayew demonstrated his dedication on the field.

Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro netted first-half goals for Manchester United, while Anthony Martial added another in the second half.
Ayew’s performance did not go unnoticed, as he was the player subjected to the most fouls on the pitch, enduring four infractions.
While Ayew is still in pursuit of his first goal of the season for Palace, he has already received recognition by being named the club’s Player of the Month for August.
Earlier this month, Ayew suffered a minor injury but has since recuperated and returned to his peak form.
