Jamie Carragher falls short of top 2000 defenders- Sammy Kuffour

Ghana and Bayern Munich legend, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, has strongly hit back at former England defender Jamie Carragher, for downplaying the essence of  AFCON.

Carragher made this remark on the  CBS show  after Liverpool’s win over Manchester City that AFCON shouldn’t be rated as a major competition to others globally.

This comments has not settled down well with a host of former African players who reacted in equal measure to register their displeasure about such defaming comments about the AFCON.

Speaking to Accra based Sporty FM, the former Ghana international queried what the Liverpool legend has achieved in the game.

“What has Carragher achieved in football? If we mention the best 2,000 defenders in the world, Carragher won’t be part!

“Do you think anyone will look at Carragher as a role model [in football] and name [their children] after him?” he added.

“If he wasn’t born in Liverpool, I doubt he’d have got the chance to play for them.

“Imagine he was born in Italy, would he have been good enough to play for Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona or even Bayern Munich? No, he wouldn’t have.” he ended
