Before that duel, the miners have drawn all three of their previous away duels to Nations FC, Samartex, and Hearts of Lions.
The game swayed in favor of the away side in the second following the introduction of Michael Nkoah, whose pace, tricky play, and creativity were a handful for the Phobians to deal with in that second period.

According to Manso, it was purely tactical to throw on an 18-year-old who won the admiration of a lot of fans on the grounds.
“We know about his pace, that’s why we brought him initially we wanted to contain them in the first half because we were playing with one attack. We brought him in the second half because we have pace, it was a tactical approach.” – he ended.
GoldStars managed to beat Hearts of Oak back-to-back for a second season running aiding them to the apex of the league with 18 points from 8 games.
