FC Sheriff defender Patrick Kpozo has cast a strong spur on the competitiveness of the Moldovan Premier League in a recent media interview.
The young full-back who made his debut against Madagascar in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday following injuries to Baba Rahman and Gideon Mensah had some strong reservations about the competitiveness of the league.
“It was a dream come through” – Patrick Kpozo on BlackStars debut
According to him, the league is not good, and won’t advise any of his fellow players to take the route of playing in Moldova.
“For me, I will not advise anyone to play in (the Moldavan league). The league is not that good, but the only good team is our club, FC Sheriff. They are always winning (the league) every time, it’s not that strong ” Kpozo expressed in an interview with Citi Sports.
Kpozo is one of many Ghanaian players (Edmund Addo, Mudasiru Salifu, Razak Abalora) who have had spells with Sheriff FC in the Moldovan top-flight league.
Despite the disappointment of the result, Ghana remains at the top of Group E with eight points. They will conclude their qualification matches for the AFCON against the Central African Republic (CAR) in September at the Baba Yara Stadium.
