Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey has disclosed the painful experiences he went through following GFA’s decision after the match-fixing allegation involving AshantiGold and Inter Allies.
Lamptey was one of seven players who were found culpable in a match-fixing scandal against Inter Allies and were handed severe punishment by the GFA.

Later the players appealed the GFA decision through the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) which later overturned the initial decision.
Speaking to Kotoko’s media, the nomadic attacking midfielder opened up about the possibility of retiring from football after the GFA ruled against him.
“It was very painful. Since the issue came up, I haven’t spoken about it. It was a really difficult time for me. The way my parents were lamenting, it was painful to see,”
“It affected my game, going out became a problem for me and even when you go on social media and see some comments, you get discouraged.
“There was a point [when] I was contemplating retirement.
“I want to thank management for taking the issue to CAS and I feel vindicated now.” he ended.

Lamptey who is in his third season with the Porcupine Warriors will be hoping to help the team recapture the Ghana Premier League trophy after losing it to Medeama SC last season.
