Hearts of Oak appoint Abdul Rahim Bashiru as acting head coach following Koopman’s sack.
Hearts of Oak has appointed Abdul Rahim Bashiru as the interim head coach following the departure of Martin Koopman.
This leadership change follows a series of disappointing results, including a 0-0 draw against Legon Cities, where Koopman confidently stated he wasn’t concerned about potential dismissal.

Koopman’s tenure at Hearts of Oak saw only two victories in ten Ghana Premier League games, leading to the club parting ways with him. This decision aligns with the club’s strategy to revitalize its technical team for the ongoing football season.
In an official statement, Hearts of Oak acknowledged Koopman’s contributions during his time and wished him well in his future endeavors. The club also announced that Bashiru, previously the assistant coach, would step into the role of interim head coach until further notice.
Bashiru is set to make his debut in this new position as Hearts of Oak takes on Accra Lions in the upcoming Ghana Premier League fixture.
Before joining Hearts of Oak in August 2023, Bashiru served as an assistant coach at Legon Cities for two seasons.
