Hearts need investors, Togbe is suffering – Ernest Thompson
Former Hearts of Oak Board Secretary Ernest Thompson has lamented about the club’s current financial woes.
The club’s former legal expert has called on the top hierarchy headed by Board Chairman and majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV to loosen up grips in order to float shares to ease the teeming financial pressure the club faces on a regular basis.
In a recent interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, Mr. Thompson said the club needed to institute a good financial background like any professional club would do.
“Hearts of Oak has a weak financial base and that is what stops the team from going for good players, which is bad.
”Everybody is waiting for Togbe to buy a bus for the team, if the club as a serious entity float shares, will get money and buy a bus,”
He went further to add that if the club floats shares, it will allow for others to come on board and support the club in diverse ways, particularly the financial aspect, which has hindered the club in rubbing shoulders with the best since its establishment.
”Even Pobiman project, we need money to have it done and where is the money?
”Hearts shouldn’t have been using this bus by now and training on poor pitches.”
Accra Hearts of Oak, over a century old unfortunately cannot boast of its own stadium, training pitches,a modern bus, recreational facilities, accommodation.
Hopefully, the top hierarchy will allow others on board for fresh ideas so as to move the club in a positive direction.
The Ghana Premier League has currently suspended as the country battles the prevailing coronavirus.
As of now, Ghana has recorded 4700 cases, 494 recoveries, and 22 deaths.
