Hearts of Oak captain, Gladson Awako has acknowledged the impact of Slavko Matic’s sacking on their campaign last season.
The Phobians were hoping to successfully reclaim their lost league trophy from the previous season but it failed to work for them.
Kotoko re-appoint Prosper Narteh as head coach
Speaking in a recent radio interview with Akoma FM, the captain admitted that, the sacking of Matic derailed their ambitions of winning the league.
“I feel too many changes in coaching impacted negatively on our performance last season. We started with Samuel Boadu, then later, Matic who didn’t last long followed by David Ocloo. All these coaches had different philosophies which warranted instant results, so the changes to the technical side and injuries affected our affected performance”
On whether the sacking of Serbia trainer, Slavko Matic had a toll on their season he acknowledged that it affected their overall performance
“Yes, the departure of Slavko Matic affected us and it didn’t help at all. Before Matic, we were in 12th position but we moved to the 3rd position with him in charge and now see where we ended the season”
Awako’s will hope to enjoin an injury-free campaign this season for Hearts as they eye the reclaiming of the league trophy they lost some two seasons ago.
