Ghanaian footballer on trials in Zambia dies

Reports emerging from Zambia are saying that Justice Selasi Oko a Ghanaian footballer collapsed and died in the country.

The 25-year-old Ghanaian footballer who went for trials at Zambian Division 1 side Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy fell during training and died enroute to the hospital.

Two Ghanaian footballers arrested in Indonesia

Central Province Commissioner of Police Chola Katanga disclosed to the media the death of the footballer.

“We recorded the death of unnatural cause on 31st December 2018, where one Justice Salasi Oko, a footballer of Ghanaian nationality came to Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy for trials but as he was running with the team he collapsed. He was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi and later referred to Kabwe Central Hospital where he died,” chola disclosed.

Oko, who played for the likes of Heart of Lions and Bechem United in Ghana was sent to Zambia by Frank Simunji, a football agent.

Meanwhile, the father of the player has been notified of his son’s death and formalities are being made at the embassy on how the body will be sent to Ghana for funeral arrangement.
