GFA General Secretary assures commitment to fairness in upcoming elections



Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has given assurance to the football community about the GFA’s strong dedication to conducting elections that are impartial and transparent.

The GFA recently introduced a comprehensive plan for the upcoming elections, with the aim of selecting key officials, including a president, who will lead the association over the next four years.

According to the plan, the positions of GFA President and Executive Council members are scheduled for competition on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Moreover, the election for positions within the Regional Football Association (RFA) is set to take place on Friday, September 29, 2023.

Speaking openly with Citi Sports, Harrison Addo confirmed that FIFA, the global governing body for football, has endorsed the election roadmap.

He underlined the GFA’s unwavering commitment to adhering to the established schedule and ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.

Harrison Addo stated, “FIFA is in agreement with the outlined roadmap. So, we are fully compliant and will adhere to the schedule to guarantee fairness in all aspects.”

Addressing concerns regarding possible impediments to the election procedures, the GFA General Secretary conveyed optimism that the association would actively address any challenges to maintain the credibility of the elections. He asserted, “I believe no actions will be taken to obstruct any of the processes.”
