Former Bibiani Goldstars forward Abednego Tetteh explains he never said he has quit football because of the Black Stars snub.
Abednego Tetteh, the former striker for Bibiani Goldstars and the leading scorer in the Ghana Premier League, has clarified that he hasn’t retired from football entirely.
Rather, he has made the decision to cease playing in the local league. Initial reports had suggested that Tetteh had completely left the sport due to consistent omissions from the Black Stars and his disappointment in not receiving the Player of the Season award at the Ghana FA Awards.

However, Tetteh has set the record straight in an interview with Wontumi FM based in Kumasi. He affirmed that he never formally declared his retirement from football, emphasizing that his choice was specifically to discontinue playing in the Ghana Premier League.
Tetteh further urged the public to disregard the earlier reports, emphasizing that he had the opportunity to extend his contract with Goldstars but opted not to participate in the GPL due to how he felt he was being treated.
In his own words, Tetteh clarified, “I’m even surprised. I never said I have quit football because of the Black Stars snub or something. ”
“What I said was, I’d rather stop playing the Ghana Premier League but not football entirely. I will entreat the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.”
