Having previously served as President of the Nigeria Football Association, Pinnick possesses extensive knowledge of African football politics and is well-acquainted with the intricacies of West African football.
His presence enhances the credibility and expertise of the election process.
Despite potential legal challenges from certain dissenting parties, notably George Afriyie, who was disqualified in his attempt to vie for the GFA Presidency against Kurt Okraku, the GFA elections are proceeding as scheduled.
Afriyie has reportedly lodged a petition with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after exhausting all available avenues in Ghana.
Furthermore, King Faisal has sought an injunction through a local court, with a hearing slated for October 12. Nonetheless, the GFA, with FIFA’s support, is moving forward with the elections to appoint new leaders for the forthcoming four-year term.
