After a decade-plus of trophy absence, Accra Hearts of Oak bagged their first league triumph in grand style in feat supporters will cherish for a really long haul, thanks to the brilliant Samuel Boadu.
This year’s league certainly lived up to its billing following two prior truncations but the Phobians, who began beginning their campaign on a rather slow turf made amends when the league wore on until its climax.

It goes without saying that, lots of factors played a key role in bringing back the glory days of the once-famous club.
I want to take an in-depth look into how the groundwork for the Hearts triumph came about.
Firstly, a trend of bad results by the team will incur the wrath of fans to vigorously demonstrate at the club’s secretariat, using ill methods which ultimately got the attention of the top hierarchy, an effort that forced the hand of the club’s board led by Togbe Afede IV to take hardball decisions which will go a long way to positively impact the fortunes of the club.
These decisions will include the board’s appointment of an ambitious Samuel Boadu from fellow Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC, who took up the mantle following the exits of Edward Nii Odoom, Kosta Papic.
Boadu’s first few games were filled with a bunch of mixed results with fans calling for his head but a little patience will see his side go on an impressive seven matches winning streak.

In one of his pressers, he highlighted the need to improve the overall mechanism of the team, clearly, his imprints are all over the team who have done brutally well in all aspects from defense to attack.
In attack, K.Obeng Junior, Victor Aidoo, Afriyie Barnieh, Ibrahim Salifu, and midfield gem Benjamin Afutu Kotey contributed selflessly to the overall stock of goals at the club.
In defense, it was no surprise that Fatau, Sowah, Alhassan, Ovouka, and Attah were consistent performers whenever they were to put to the task ensuring they went 11 matches without defeat which shot them in pole position for a league triumph in over a decade.
Samuel Boadu is a man on a mission, a true Phobia at best leaving Medeama SC for Hearts of Oak at a time when the latter were 2nd on the log considering the resources, financial input the board led by Moses Parker had injected into the side spoke volumes of the risk the Boadu had taken and for his mission to be realized is heartwarming, to say the least.
Hopefully, this league triumph will reinvigorate the board of Accra Hearts of Oak to financially inject into the team going to Africa next season.
