Fatawu Issahaku replaces injured Joseph Paintsil in Black Stars squad for AFCON qualifier.
Chris Hughton, has confirmed that Fatawu Issahaku will be joining the team for their crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).
This decision stems from Joseph Paintsil, who was initially part of the squad, being sidelined due to an injury he sustained in his last club game.
Hughton commended the inclusion of Fatawu Issahaku, emphasizing that it offers a fantastic opportunity for Issahaku’s growth, especially considering his limited playing time in Portugal.

Issahaku’s recent transfer to Leicester City from Sporting Club of Portugal is seen as a significant milestone in his career.
“Yes, that is accurate, he will be part of the squad. His recent move to Leicester City is a fantastic step forward for him, transitioning from Portugal where he didn’t have much playing time.”
“He was also involved with the U-23s in Morocco over the summer, playing all three games. I believe it’s a positive move for him, one that will further his career.”
“So, yes, he will be joining us. We’re hopeful he’ll link up with us this evening,” Hughton conveyed to the press on Wednesday.
The upcoming match at the Baba Yara Stadium holds immense significance for both teams as they compete for a spot in the prestigious tournament.
