Empem Dacosta ready to fight for starting berth at Kotoko
When Empem Dacosta signed with Kumasi Asante Kotoko a year ago, his dream was to emulate the successes of a former childhood hero, Joseph Hendricks, and win multiple trophies with the Kumasi based team.
Instead, his time at Kumasi has been nothing short of disappointing, frustrating, and unfulfillment. These may sound pretty harsh but the energetic player is an ambitious lad, who wants to be nothing but the best with one of Ghana’s biggest franchises.
As the season wore on, his first start with the club didn’t go as planned to see him relegated to the bench, with others taking his place on the field.
The former Karela man has however seen the light as he wants to fight his way back into the starting berth of the team, when the league resumes at an unannounced date after its suspension far back in March.
In a recent interview with Kotoko Express App, he narrated how happy he was over his failure to secure a loan move to Legon Cities mid-season and that now he wants to give off his best to catch the attention of the technical handlers of the team.
”I am glad that my move was stopped and that I am back into the team,”
”The team would not have taken those steps if I did everything right. I admit that I brought it upon myself and now I have vowed to rewrite everything. I do not want to leave and so I have to fight back and prove to the technical bench that they can trust me in me.”
”I have looked at myself in the mirror and reflected on all the games I played; the things I did right and otherwise.
”It is a great opportunity that I have here and I desperately want to improve both on and off the field, and play according to the instructions of the coach to keep my place in the squad.”
Empem Dacosta moved from Karela United to Kotoko after hugely impressing in the Special Competition organization by the Normalization Committee.
