Congress approves Exco allowances and bonuses
On September 1, Congress approved a new allowance structure for officials of the Ghana Football Association at the meeting held at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram.
The Ad-hoc Compensation Committee was formed with the mandate of developing a new allowances and bonuses structure for executives of the country’s top hierarchy, GFA.
Based on a thorough job and recommendations that was presented by the Ad-hoc Compensation Committee of the association, Congress however accepted and passed for the allowances and bonuses structure to take effect.
Breakdown of Allowances
The President, Kurt Okraku will duly receive a monthly allowance of GHS 12,000, Vice President, Mark Addo will take home a cool GHS 7,000 whiles the Executive Council members will be paid GHS 4000 as allowances.
Meeting Allowances
With regards to meeting allowance, the President will take home GHS 1600, his vice will pocket GHS 1400 as meeting allowance with the Executive Council members also receiving GHS 1300.
These new changes to the allowances and bonuses structure have since been met with lots of backlash from the public spectacle on electronic media, social media as well as other mediums, with many claiming that the Kurt led administration that preached on the mantra of “”bringing back the love” are taking exorbitant allowances that will have dire implications on the public purse of the country.
It remains to be seen if this new administration will do things differently from what the prior administration under the leadership of Kwesi Nyatakyi were doing.
