Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has explained his decision for accepting Legon Cities job.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has clarified his decision to assume the coaching role at Legon Cities, explaining that he found it compelling to accept the position despite initially planning to take a break from top-tier football for a period.
Fabin, who formerly worked with Aduana Stars, led them to a second-place finish in the previous season even though they had held the top position for a substantial part of the campaign.
Although he had intentions of delving into talent development, the opportunity presented by Legon Cities was too attractive to reject, leading him to become part of the Accra-based team.

The Ghana Premier League club officially introduced Fabin as their new head coach for the upcoming season on Tuesday.
Fabin conveyed his excitement for the upcoming challenge, underscoring his enthusiasm to collaborate closely with the management and all those associated with the club to ensure a productive season.
Discussing his choice, Fabin revealed, “Following my departure from my previous club [Aduana Stars], I had planned to take a break and establish my own academy.”
“However, when Legon Cities FC extended an offer, it was difficult to turn down. I’m thrilled to be here and embark on this new endeavor. I’m looking forward to a successful season in partnership with the management and everyone involved.”
Fabin’s arrival aligns with Legon Cities’ ambition to make a significant impact in the Ghana Premier League. He has committed to a two-year contract with the club and is anticipated to play a pivotal role in enhancing their performance in the forthcoming season.
Taking over from former Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu, who guided the team to a 9th-place finish in the previous season, Fabin brings a wealth of experience to the table.
He has previously managed well-known Ghanaian clubs like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, in addition to his work with various national teams, including the Black Starlets, Black Meteors, and Uganda’s national youth teams.
Fabin outlined his vision for Legon Cities, affirming, “We will be competitive. We will strive for a respectable position.”
“We will uphold the club’s reputation. Additionally, we will nurture young players and also promote them.” He emphasized the need for a fresh approach, underlining the team’s objective to avoid repeating a 9th-place finish.
With his official start on Monday, Fabin is wasting no time and is immediately getting down to business.
He highlighted the significant turnout of over 100 players at the training grounds, indicating a collective dedication to achieving their objectives for the upcoming season.
