Black Stars coach Chris Hughton is focused on helping the country achieve success at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
For close to four decades, the country has been unable to chalk any major success on the international font which has led many to question when it will win its first trophy since 1982.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Hughton reiterated the need to win the AFCON trophy as his primary objective.
“First and foremost, it’s about getting there (AFCON), but once you get there, you’d want to perform well.”
“One thing I have seen during my travels with the team is that the levels of the African countries now have improved.”
“I think it’s because of infrastructure, so many of the African players are now playing at good levels, good clubs with good structure, and no doubt the level of the AFCON will continue to improve,” he ended.
The Black Stars will hope to edge a step better in their quest to win the most coveted trophy on the continent after they fell short in 1992, 2010, and 2015.
