Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC lost their maiden game in the CAF Champions League to Egyptian powerhouse AL Ahly at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo.
The Tarkwa-based side were making their first outing in Africa’s elite club competition and needed to give a good account of themselves.

Coach Evans Adotey had opened up about how he wanted to get something out of the game which prompted him to name, Felix Kyei in post, deploying, a five-man defense off, Fatawu, Abdulai, Musah, Asmah and Kamaradin, Emmanuel Cudjoe, Manuel Mantey, Jean Vital Ourega in midfield whiles Jonathan Sowah and Joshua Agyemang in attack.
The first half swung by with no goals.
Emam Ashour seized an opportunity on the edge of the eighteen-yard box flying a ferrocious shot that was headed in by Kahraba in the 66th minute of the game.

El Shahat capitalized on the defensive frailties of the away side to grab the second while, Salah Mohsen added a third of the game in the 90th-minute mark.
The results see, Al Ahly at the summit with three points.
Medeama SC will be at home against Algerian side Belhouizdad for the second group game on December 1, 2023, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
