CAF president encouages Ghana to bid for AFCON tournament

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe has encouraged Ghana to put in a bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.



The CAF President toured Ghana on a two-day visit last week and was among the guest speakers at the Youth Connekt Summit held in Accra.

During his visit to the country, he visited Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo, during the discussions he opined that he will be happy if Ghana hosted the AFCON once again since it had loads of benefits the country could derive from t hosting. 

“I will like to see Ghana put in a bid to host the African Cup so we can come back. So, there are ongoing proposals to host it”.

The last time Ghana hosted the AFCON was in 2008 where they placed 3rd before that they had hosted it Ghana has previously hosted it in 1978 and 2000.

Ghana will be looking to break its over three-decade jinx for a major silverware on the continent when they play in Cameroun 2022.
