The result marked a third straight win after earlier wins against Uganda, South Africa.

Vincent Y. Akuguri laid a pass off to Festus Gyamfi, whose thunderbolt flew past the Algerian goalkeeper.
Captain Cyrus Ankomah led by example by adding the second goal of the game five minutes later.
Ignatius Hagan added the icing on the cake with the goal of the game in the second half.

The host nation advanced to the semi-finals of the competition.
