Former Black Stars coach CK Akonnor has backed coach Otto Addo to succeed as head coach of the male national team.
The Black Stars gave their 2026 World Cup qualifications the needed boast with two impressive wins. One away to Mali and the other against Central African Republic.

Speaking to Channel One Sports, Akonnor has been impressed with the direction of the Black Stars under the tutelage of Coach Otto Addo, who is back at the helm of affairs for a second stint.
“It’s very hopeful, I saw the match against Mali and the way we played was solid. In the second match, our team scored four goals, so we needed to appreciate it. There are things the coach said we need to improve in that game. I understand that, and I think the future is very hopeful,” he stated.
On the long-term contract that was handed to Otto by GFA, Akonnor was happy with the longevity of the contract.
“I think they have finally given him a long-term contract says it all, it means he would have time to prepare this team for a long time at least five years. He needs our support everybody must support him because of what he has done these last two games, I think the future is bright. ” he ended.

The Black Stars will hope to secure their fifth birth of qualification to the World Cup as they play their next game in March 2025 away to Chad.
