Black Satellites coach, Desmond Ofei: “We deserve the win because we have been working hard”
Ghana staged an impressive turnaround in their second match of the African Games men’s football tournament, securing a 3-1 victory over Gambia following a disappointing draw in their tournament opener against Congo.
Speaking after the game, head coach Desmond Ofei said: “We are not too surprised because I know the qualities of the boys. We have to congratulate the players once again because they have been working really really hard. We’ve been pushing them hard.”

“I told them if they are courageous, if they show hunger I’m sure every opponent will have it difficult playing against us.”

The team exhibited notable improvement in their performance, effectively seizing opportunities and showcasing their development throughout the tournament.
Facing Gambia, Ghana asserted dominance early in the game, with Musibau Aziz finding the net just 12 minutes into play, eliciting enthusiasm from the home supporters.
This early advantage provided momentum for the Black Satellites, who maintained control leading up to halftime and continued to assert their authority in the second half.
Abdul Aziz Issah, a standout player from Dreams FC, extended Ghana’s lead just four minutes into the second half, further solidifying their position in the match.
Despite a missed penalty by Ghana in the 75th minute, the team maintained their aggressive stance on the field.
Gambia managed to score a consolation goal through Ebrimah Ceesay in the 83rd minute, but Ghana’s lead remained unchallenged.
Jerry Afriyie sealed the victory for Ghana with a goal in stoppage time, concluding the match with a final score of 3-1.
