Nigeria Super Falcons suffered a surprise defeat against South Africa Banyana Banyana at Cape Coat on Sunday in their opening game in the Africa Women Nations Cup 2018.
Nigeria started the game strongly, with Asisat Oshoala and Oparanozie coming close to scoring but squandered several chances.

South Africa stood firm defensively and controlled the game very well and their hard work paid off in the 83rd minute when Thembi Kgatlana put South Africa in front.
Nigeria regrouped to grab an equalizer but it was surely too late for the Super Falcons. This is the first time the Super Falcons have lost their opening game in the Africa Nations Cup.
Nigeria will play Zambia on Wednesday while South Africa will face Equatorial Guinea.
