The GFA yesterday, indefinitely suspended and removed AshantiGold from all football activities in Ghana
Following a decision made during the 29th congress session of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at KNUST Great Hall, AshantiGold SC has been officially suspended from the association. The motion to suspend the Obuasi-based club was initiated by Ameenu Shardow, the administrative manager of Dreams FC.
During the congress, a vote by headcount took place, with 67 members voting in favor of the suspension and 17 voting against it.
Consequently, AshantiGold’s suspension by the Ghana FA congress has been officially and effectively implemented due to their association with suspended officials, namely Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong.

The Executive Council of the GFA unanimously decided to suspend AshantiGold in accordance with Article 17(1) of the GFA Statutes, a decision that has been upheld by the congress.
The suspension stems from the club’s involvement with the banned officials, Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong, which constitutes a serious violation of both the GFA Statutes and the FIFA Statutes.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee had previously banned Kwaku Frimpong for 10 years and Emmanuel Frimpong for 8 years due to their engagement in match manipulations.
Furthermore, AshantiGold had been demoted from the top division to the third-tier of Ghanaian football as a result of their involvement in match manipulations.
As a consequence of the suspension, AshantiGold is prohibited from participating in any activities organized by the Ghana FA, including competitions and other related events.
