Asante Kotoko failed to take the opportunity to edge closer to their first league title in seven years after a narrow 1-0 defeat against their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak.
Afriyie Barnieh scored the only goal to take his side three points clear at the top of the table.
The Porcupines barely threatened the Hearts defence; the entire team created two big chances in the entire 90 minutes of the game.
Player Ratings:
Kwame Baah- 6 – Not at fault for the goal and could do only little about it. Also saved a close shot from Patrick Razak
Christopher Nettey – 5 – Could’ve done more to help Evans Adomako in the first half. He also made few mistakes where one would’ve expected more.
Abdul Ganiyu – 6 – Had a decent game; partnered pretty well with Andrews Appau. Just need to start making decisions faster at the back.
Andrews Appau – 8 – Considering this is his first appearance against Hearts of Oak, the 19-year-old was immense; played with precise composure and character.
Patrick Asmah – 7 – Helped greatly defensively, was one of the best players out there.
Habib Mohammed – 6 – Was at fault for the goal after leaving Afriyie unmarked inside the box. The mistake was the only stain to his decent performance.
