Asante Kotoko challenge GFA decision on GHS80,000 fine for misconduct
Asante Kotoko has officially challenged the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) verdict imposing an GHS80,000 fine on the club for misconduct during their away match against Nations FC on October 22.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee held Kotoko responsible, attributing the disturbance, characterized by thrown broken seats onto the field, to Kotoko fans.
In an issued statement, Kotoko expressed dissent with the decision, contending that the GFA Disciplinary Committee overlooked the club’s defense and relied solely on the Match Officials’ report.

The statement highlights inconsistencies, including the alleged participation of Equipment Officer Issah Amadu, who was not supposed to be on the bench during the match.
Kotoko stressed their plea to personally appear alongside the match officials to comprehend the basis of their report—a plea rejected by the GFA. The club asserts that the decision inaccurately portrays the events during the match.
The statement concludes by announcing Kotoko’s decision to abstain from further comments on the matter, underscoring their dissatisfaction with the GFA Disciplinary Committee’s ruling.
Additionally, the club disclosed a GHS5,000 fine for misconduct charges related to their match against Karela FC on October 1, 2023, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
