A solo run from Alvarez saw Argentina go 2-0 up before the break.
Croatia could not penetrate the Argentine defense as Otamendi and Romero were resilient at the back.
A moment of magic from the little magician, Messi was more than enough to set up Alvarez for his second of the night.
Argentina will play the winner of France vs Morocco today in the final of the World Cup.
