American referee, Ismail Elfath to officiate Ghana vs Portugal

American referee Ismail Elfath, to officiate Ghana’s opening 2022 World Cup clash with Portugal of on Thursday



This is his first World Cup and s part of the 28 debutant referees in the ongoing World Cup.

Elfath is set to officiate the Black Stars opening match of the tournament in Group H against Portugal

Fellow Americans, Kyle Atkins and Corey Parker will assist him and  French official Stephanie Frappart will be the fourth official.

American official Armando Villarreal will be the video referee.

Elfath has no record of officiating any of the two teams playing .

He is a highly rated referee and won the best referee award in America.

The match will be played on Thursday at 16:00GMT at Stadium 974, in Doha.
