Ghana head coach, Chris Hughton says he wants to start his campaign on a winning note against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Cote d’Ivoire on a winning note.
The four-time champions will hope to do well in a tournament they have less fancied to win following their subpar performances in previous tournaments.

Speaking ahead of the Black Stars’ first game against Cape Verde in the pre-match conference, Hughton said he hopes to begin on a winning note.
“It was a good camp, very good spirit. The players are very well prepared. You can only have expectations if we perform well enough, our objective is that we’re able to play at a good and high level that allows us to win the game”
He added, “There is not one bad team in this tournament. Our approach to every game is the same. We would like to begin on a winning note”.
This would be Hughton’s first stint at the AFCON as he will hope to make the best of the campaign following some uninspiring performances from his side.
