2024 FIFA U20 WWC: Black Princesses fall to Austria

The Black Princesses of Ghana lost their group opener to Austria in the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Hannah Frankhauser opened the scoring for the debutants in the 12th minute of the game after a lackluster defending.

The Princesses of Ghana were awoken by the early slip-up seeing, Stella Nyamekye and Jennifer Owusuaa’s numerous efforts nullified by the Austrian goalkeeper.

Nicole Ojukwu stepped up to convert a penalty on the 70th-minute mark to dampen the hopes of the West African side from a comeback.

Stella Nyamekye finally got rewarded for his effort in the 89th minute but the goal came too late to spark a leveler for Yusif Bassigi’s side.

The Black Princesses‘ will play Japan, on Thursday at 22:00 GMT for the next game.
