FIFA Threaten To Ban Ghana From All Activities

FIFA has threatened to ban Ghana

World Football’s governing body FIFA has threatened to ban Ghana from all football activities if the government does not withdraw its court process to dissolve the GFA by the 27th August.

The decision of the Ghana government to dissolve the GFA came in the wake of an investigative piece by under cover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas dubbed “Number 12” which exposed the corruption and rot in the Football Association, most notably the president Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Following that expose, FIFA suspended Mr. Nyantakyi for 90 days but the government of Ghana went further and began processes to dissolve the whole association and restructure it.

However in a letter dated 13th August 2018 from FIFA, they stated explicitly that should the government go further with this, the country could no longer partake in a any tournament or competition organized by FIFA.

This would mean that Ghana would be ineligible to play in the upcoming AFCON 2019 qualifiers in September and also the U20 Youth Championship in Niger next year.

Government have not yet responded to this letter but it appears many Ghanaians are not bothered by the eminent ban as the restructuring of the whole association seems to be of paramount concern.
